Rosalie’s update: The one with the first smiles (month 2)

This month has been exciting as we have experienced our first proper, real, non nappy related smiles! Nothing can truly describe the feeling when your baby gazes up at you and you witness a smile unfolding across her whole face. Even the worst breastfeeding session can be smoothed over, and that really is saying something.

She is also becoming more vocal, to accompany the wriggling. We get lots of leg kicking and cooing when she is underneath her mobile – in the cot and on the changing mat!

We have also had a minor breakthrough with the breastfeeding this month, meaning she has really started to put on weight well, it is such a relief. I didn’t expect to still be struggling with breastfeeding 8 weeks in, but having taken a trip to the breastfeeding clinic at six weeks in and being told how well I had done to continue this long, I felt proud of both me and Rosalie and was determined not to give up. I definitely wouldn’t say she has mastered the feeding yet, but she is getting there. We live in hope and take each session as it comes.

So, at two months old, Rosie Posy has mastered:

  • Smiling
  • Cooing
  • Holding her head
  • Weeing when her nappy is off
  • Putting on weight

She is beginning to attempt grabbing at things, so I don’t think it will be long before she is enjoying rattles and the toy bar over her bouncy chair.

Rosalie at about 7 weeks, flashing us her best smile!
