A letter to my daughter on her first birthday.
It hardly seems possible that one year ago today you were making your grand arrival beneath the Christmas Tree in our living room! You were such a tiny, helpless little thing back then. I spent a lot of time in the first few months fretting about your weight because we struggled so much with feeding. But we sussed it in the end, and look what a wonderful little girl you are growing in to.
You have changed so much over the past 12 months, I am so proud of everything you have achieved. I’ve been keeping track of your skills and developments, so that one day we can read through them together.
Now you are one, you love to clap and wave and give high fives! You have such fun at Jolly Babies and are really beginning to get into the actions and instruments. You like to crawl, and cruise the furniture and climb the stairs. You know when you’re up to mischief as you flash us the cheekiest grin, but carry on anyway.
I have been getting a little over enthusiastic with the crafts and baking; so I’m sorry if I’ve been trying to get you involved when you’re still too young. I am just so excited to share everything with you!
I know that sometimes we have bad days, tears and frustration, but we are learning together; I am being the best mummy I can be, and hope that you love me anyway. You’re smiles and infectious laugh are hugely rewarding, but a hug wouldn’t go amiss, anytime you’re ready…
Daddy and I are overwhelmed with love for you, and even though you’re getting bigger by the day, you will always be our Baby Girl.
All my love,
