Miffy’s Birthday {What We’re Reading}

Miffy's Birthday book review

I used to love Miffy when I was little, so I was really excited to find a couple of Miffy books in the charity shop a few weeks ago. They were in brilliant condition too! And with Rosalie’s birthday coming up this Sunday I wanted to read a book about birthdays with her, so Miffy’s Birthday seemed like the perfect choice.

Miffy’s Birthday is one of a collection of Miffy stories that have been updated by UK poet Tony Mitton, working closely with Dick Bruna’s Dutch publisher.

It’s Miffy’s birthday so she puts on her very prettiest dress. Her mum and dad wish her happy returns and decorate her chair with flowers to match her dress. Her friends have all bought her lovely presents and they have fun playing with a ball!

Grandpa and Grandma Bunny come in the evening and give Miffy a very special present. I wont’s spoil the surprise!

It’s possibly a little grown up for a one year old – although it’s a hardback, the pages are paper so can’t really handle rough baby grabbing! That said, the colours are bright, the pictures are bold and the rhymes are succinct, and who doesn’t love the iconic white bunny?

What are you reading this week?

    Oh I loved the Miffy books when I was little! What a wonderful find and how great that they've been modernised but not ruined like the Mr Men books have.

    Oh Miffy is just so sweet, she's the perfect character for reading with little ones, and it sounds like her birthday is a very appropriate story for your little family at the moment!

    Love the Miffy rabbit books – we used the Miffy goes to hospital one to help Jessica when she last went in for a cardiac procedure. Agree with you that they're not so good for handling by little ones but they're lovely for reading to them

    They're such lovely books, they really illustrate situations in such simple child-friendly terms. We keep ours on the high shelf so R can't get her hands on them alone now!
