Rosalie had so many lovely new books for her birthday and Christmas, we’ve got lots of great reads to share with you over the coming weeks. But today I am starting with a library book, because it’s due back this week! I also thought it was quite appropriate as we have been experiencing all kinds of weather lately. This week we’re reading Funny Bunnies Rain or Shine by David Melling.
I think this book is a brilliant introduction to weather for little ones – the illustrations are bright and the story has a gentle rhyme to it.
The bunnies start off in the rain, then snooze in the sun, have fun on the ice, get lost in fog and pelted by hail!
They have to hold on when the North wind blows a gale…
And they have fun making a giant snow-carrot!
Now, I’m not 100% sure why these bunnies ride pogo-sticks, but they do, and they enjoy bouncing around together, in all kinds of weather!
Rosalie is now one, and although the concepts of weather are a little advanced for her, as we read through the book, we talk about feeling hot or cold (she does a good attempt at “brrrr” to indicate cold!) and I point out the different clothes the bunnies are wearing depending on the weather.
Helpfully, it was raining today, so we could actually experience some real weather!
What are you reading this week?
Do pop over to see what Carie at Space for the Butterflies is reading with her little ones, and join in with the What We’re Reading linky too if you have a book you’d like to share.

January 6, 2015 at 8:57 pmLOL love the bunnies on pogo sticks! I have to get myself one of those umbrella helmets too.
Great book choice Jess, I love the look of it. The illustrations remind me a lot of the Hugless Douglas books (they also have bunnies in them!). π

January 7, 2015 at 1:27 amOh that looks like such a sweet book – I love the illustrations especially the bunnies all holding on to each other in the wind and you've found a lovely way to share it with Rosalie, her "brrr" for cold sounds incredibly cute!!
