It’s been a challenging week, but Happy Days (hosted by Katy at What Katy Said and Jenna at Tinyfootsteps) is no place for that. This post is all about focusing on the happy moments. So here goes.
Out and about
Rosalie was on top form at Jolly Babies on Tuesday, despite her cold. She was dancing (wiggling), clapping, waving and smiling for the whole session. She had difficulty choosing a shaker, so ended up emptying the basket, and did the same with the box of instruments, the little munchkin!
We braved the weather on Wednesday morning for a quick trip to the swings – Rosalie basically dragged me as she was standing beneath the coat rack saying “oat” for about 10 minutes! I hardly needed to push the swing it was so gusty! Later in the day the clouds cleared and we had a lovely carrier walk over to the canal.
We went back to playgroup on Thursday – Rosalie seemed quite bold this week, exploring the more grown-up toys and pushing a toy pram around the whole room to see what the bigger ones were up to. However, due to a cold-related night waking she got tired and grumpy and had a minor meltdown when I wouldn’t let her stand on a baby bouncy chair! Still, she cheered up for the singing at the end!
Fun at home
We’ve not done too much at home this week, just playing with toys and reading books. Her favourite toys of the moment are her stacking rings and her drum. We’ve also been listening to quite a bit of music, some grown-up music and some nursery rhymes. She’s almost nailed the wheels on the bus actions.
Friday was Jim’s birthday so I’ve done a bit of baking this week. We had an enjoyable afternoon drinking tea, eating cake and opening presents – Daddy let Rosie help with the unwrapping since she loves it so much!
Time for me
I had a lovely morning with mummy J at a quirky little tea shop last weekend. We had an enjoyable couple of baby-free hours to chat about anything and everything, although inevitably we ended up talking about our little ones! How can we not when they are such important parts of our lives? Still, it’s nice to have an uninterrupted conversation, even if it is about our girls.
My happiest moment
Friday afternoon family time was definitely the highlight of my week – having Jim home for his birthday was really welcome after my challenging week, and being together with the addition of cake is a win-win!
