Giving Rosalie a bath is Daddy’s domain. Ever since her first bath, it’s always been special daddy-daughter time. It’s lovely for Jim to have this time with Rosalie, as I am with her all day. So, when Daddy comes home from work, after we have all had dinner together, bath time is his moment to be fun daddy with her.
Although it’s their special time, and Jim takes the lead, I do like to pop my head around the bathroom door to see what wonderful fun they are getting up to. And usually there is a lot of splashing involved.
Rosalie just loves to splash; she bashes the water so vigorously that she gets it in her eyes and has to stop for a second to grab a breath before starting again!
We have a big blue jug which we use to pour water over her head when washing her hair, and she likes to try and fill it with her little ducks, pushing them in and seeing them pop up as the water already in the jug forces them back out. I love to see how fascinated she is when we pour water out slowly from a height; it’s so cute watching her try to catch each droplet.
She also loves her squirty friends which she was given by Aunty E. She doesn’t quite get how to fill them with water yet, but she’s good at grabbing them tight so the water sprays out! Quite often all over Daddy, it’s lucky she’s got such a sweet face to compensate for her mischievous ways!
Bath time happens like clockwork every day at around 7pm, and it is such an ordinary thing, just another part of the routine, yet we get so many smiles and giggles. I’m sure Rosalie will be enjoying bath time for several more years to come, but I imagine the ways she shows her enjoyment will change.
Hopefully she will grow out of sucking on the flannel and sponge, and having ‘accidents’ in the bath, but with any luck her love of splashing will continue for a long time yet.
