We’ve had a mixed week this week, I obviously don’t want to focus on the low points, so without further ado, here are the happy moments from our week…
Out and about
Last weekend we met some friends in Hungerford to undertake the town Treasure Trail. It was a glorious spring day and we had so much fun discovering little back streets and learning historical facts about the town. This is the second Treasure Trail we’ve done together and we think they’re great for doing with little ones – being around the town means the routes are pushchair friendly, there are lots of things for the babies to look at, and you’re never far from a warm drink and a baby change facility! We had a lovely lunch in Eliane, which I can highly recommend if you ever happen to be in Hungerford, the staff were very friendly and helpful and they had highchairs.
Rosalie was a bit of a monkey at Jolly Babies this week, so I won’t dwell on that! Similarly swimming on Thursday was yet again a disaster, but we did try Rosalie in her new car seat – she’s growing up so fast!
It’s so nice now that the evenings are getting lighter, it means that we can go out after Rosalie wakes from her afternoon nap. We spent a lovely afternoon at the park with a mummy and her daughter who live just a few steps from our house.
I let Rosalie venture into the garden this week with her snowsuit and shoes on – I thought it might be fun for her to explore and perhaps not having so many things to cruise on would encourage her to try and take a step! Anyway, she did lots of walking holding my hand but mostly seemed to enjoy the freedom of crawling around in such a big space. She got really muddy and damp from the long grass, but seeing her little face was worth it, and the snowsuit looks good as new after a turn in the washing machine.
Fun at home
This week we’ve mostly been doing de-cluttering and housework, some might say not terribly exciting, but Rosalie seems to find everything interesting; she was fascinated by me mopping the floor and loves pulling socks off the airer.
She’s also done a lot of climbing this week – she is now able to get onto the basket chair (she found if she pulls the cushion off then not only is the chair lower but the cushion also acts as a step!), she has also taken to climbing on the arm of the sofa to reach mummy’s handcream, and then pretends to use it. She also likes climbing into boxes. Who needs toys when you can play with a cardboard box?
She is also perfecting her escapologist routine as she figures how to get her arms out of the highchair straps and several mornings this week I’ve gone into her room to discover she has already unzipped her sleeping bag!
Time for me
Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food. Need I say any more?
My happiest moment
We do a lot of reading most weeks, but over the last few weeks Rosalie’s interest in longer stories has really begun to develop. I just love it when she chooses a book and brings it to me then climbs up to sit on my lap – this is the motherhood of my dreams!
