Although we eat a lot of cake, we don’t tend to have puddings as a matter of course. But when we have visitors I like to make something for dessert, and this week, with my parents visiting, it was Treacle Tart.
Mary Berry’s recipe has lemon (zest and juice) in, which I think takes the edge off the sweetness. I really like the taste of syrup however, and would prefer it without the lemon I think.
We had ours with double cream and everyone enjoyed it (although I am beginning to wonder if people would ever honestly tell me if anything I baked was not delicious…)
