Almost two weeks ago it was my birthday and I was really looking forward to it. Not because I was thrilled to be turning 33, or because I thought I was going to be spoilt, but because it was the day of my 16 week midwife appointment, where we would finally get to hear something truly amazing…
…the sound of our tiny baby’s tiny heart beating away.
It was really special to have Jim and Rosalie in there with me; I felt so much relief when the midwife found the heartbeat quickly.
The first trimester was such an anxious time for me, even after our scan I couldn’t shift the feeling that I shouldn’t get excited yet. Coupled with the nausea, food aversions and exhaustion, the first three months left me feeling pretty drained.
But now, after hearing our baby’s heart beating, and feeling daily wriggles, I am starting to enjoy this pregnancy. Next stop the anomaly scan where hopefully our little one will be healthy and we’ll find out the sex!
