This advent we decided to make Rosalie a book advent calendar – she loves books, and toddlers can’t have too many books anyway, can they?
I didn’t want to give her lots of Christmas books which would only be read for one month of the year, so instead I chose a mix of winter themed books alongside other topics which she would get value from throughout the year.
I got 24 books fairly inexpensively from the Book People, but if you wanted to make it even cheaper then you could use books you already own (this would work well if you rotate your books anyway), or you could use books from the library and wrap them up each week.
Here’s what we decided to include in Rosalie’s Book Advent Calendar:
We have borrowed the Little Ballet Star book from the library and Rosalie really enjoyed it, so I thought this three book set would be perfect for inclusion in her advent calendar.
We love Shirley Hughes’ books, and this Nursery Collection includes a wonderful selection of learning topics for toddlers.
I wanted to include some winter themed books since that is our playful learning topic this month. This collection looks wonderful, although I am not familiar with all the stories.
We thought it would be nice to give Rosalie a special book on her birthday, and I thought Happy Birthday Old Bear would be perfect. She adores teddy bears, and the Little Bear stories.
I also thought an extra special book for Christmas Eve would be good, so we chose the Jolly Christmas Postman.
I hope Rosalie will be thrilled when she sees her book advent calendar on the shelf, and that we will spend lots of happy moments over Advent, and beyond, reading her new books.
