This proper winter weather is beautiful isn’t it? I love it when it’s cold, frosty and icy but so bright and sunny. We just had to get outside and enjoy it this morning, so we headed to our local nature reserve for a sedate icy stroll.
With being 39+4 weeks pregnant, we haven’t been venturing too far from home, but you know, you don’t always need to go far or somewhere new to have an adventure! We had no idea that the lake would be so frozen, or how thick it would be! Rosalie was just thrilled to see all the ice, and she couldn’t believe it when Daddy put a tentative foot on the ice near the edge only to find it was holding his weight!
Together they slid around the frozen shallows whilst I watched and photographed. Now she really wants to go proper ice skating, so we’ve added that to our bucket list.
Unfortunately the walk did nothing in the way of helping baby along, she’s still snug inside and not really showing any signs of budging any time soon.
I’m so glad I made the effort to get out; if I wasn’t restricted to only wearing leggings thanks to my big baby bump (they are so thin and my legs get mighty chilly! Any other mamas pregnant in winter have this problem?) we would have been out enjoying this winter weather a lot more. But this morning was more than worth getting cold legs for.

January 23, 2017 at 12:02 pmThanks Louise. I think it would be a bit scary proper ice skating on a real frozen lake!! My husband’s done it in Canada but not sure it gets cold enough here in Berkshire! xx

January 23, 2017 at 10:30 pmThank you Donna, it was a lovely stroll, and thankfully not too far around the lake, and because of the ice there was lots of stopping so I managed quite well (expect for the chilly legs!) xx
